My BMW R1150R had factory heated grips and the rubber was disintegrating grip and leaving black stuff on my hands. BMW claims you have to replace the whole heated grip assembly (very expensive), but a quick look on forums told me otherwise. I was able to very carefully cut the old grip away with a razor blade, clean off the residue with carburetor cleaner, and then slide these in place. Because of the heated grip it is thicker than normal so you will have to buy two pair and use the larger throttle-side grip on both sides, but it worked great for a LOT less money.
