I use this bike rack for mine and my son. My bike has round handlebars and he has larger oval handlebars. Both fit great. I only did one ride and some parts that felt tight loosened up a bit. Normal run, everything is fine with the trunk. I've checked and tightened everything with the tools provided (very handy) and everything seems fine. The rubber straps will continue to break but they feel solid and the frame comes with an extra one. Use an anti-swing stand! The first time I didn't tighten it enough, the post shook a little. After I brought him the Crescent Key, he actually sculpted it. As for the rubber bands, time will tell but I am very happy with the purchase. Don't worry about hitting mountain passes.
