The larger T-handle version of these tools are more ergonomic and easy to use, but these smaller tools were the best choice for keeping my kit off -Street motorcycle tools as few as possible. There is debate as to whether or not to use the tube. A snorkel might be the best choice for extreme use (with rimlocks), but I don't do big jumps or smash huge rocks. I like being able to patch the tire onto the rim. This is a huge advantage in the wild. I also like that I don't have to carry a pry bar around to remove the rail and patch the tube. The self-vulcanizing bacon strip patches are a huge plus over liquid slime tubes, which are disposable because they always dry out quickly once opened. I don't like this mess. Simple operation: 1) Remove the foreign object that punctured the tire. 2) Use a round rasp to roughen and enlarge the hole. 3) Use the pusher to push the double patch through the tire. 4) Pull out the pusher and leave a double patch in the hole in the tire 5) Cut off the excess patch as close to the tire tread as possible 6) Re-inflate the tyre. I chose a quality Blackburn mountain bike pump to accompany this repair kit. It's more tedious, labor intensive, and time consuming than a portable motorcycle air compressor, but it's much more reliable, smaller, lighter, cheaper, and works even when the motorcycle's electrical system is faulty.
