This is my second precision meat grinder. The first, bought in 2013, lasted over 7 years until the ceramic grinding wheel started sliding freely and tilting left and right with each use. I like to see the salinity and the mill itself is strong. Turning the grinder is not necessary. A new feature of this grinder is a clear "plastic" lid that snaps onto the bottom of the grinder and prevents salt residue from ending up on the table or shelf after using the salt grinder. This is genius: I had to place my first coffee grinder in a very small, low glass bowl to catch the remaining salt. No longer! I don't like turning the salt mill over before the salt comes out and with this mill I can always see the beautiful pink Himalayan salt inside and its level.
