🔌 MEAN WELL LRS-150-12 Enclosed Switchable Power Supply: 150W 12V, 12.5 Amp for Optimal Performance Review

It turned out to be cheaper on than buying on a well-known Chinese site. I bought the block to power the addressable LEDs. Worked all New Year's holidays. There was no noise, no overheating, no malfunctions. Power naturally took with a margin. In general, an excellent block, although more expensive than Chinese counterparts, but the quality is much higher. This is the fourth unit of this company for me, in addition to the Chinese noun. Now I only buy mean well.

I paid extra for this brand hoping to reduce the high frequency whine found in many power supplies. This is not the case. So if you need this, look elsewhere.

There was an original Mac512k from '84 that suffered an internal lid fire decades ago. Internals changed to Pi4b and 10" LCD.

No issues or problems with this power supply. It is required to start the external cooling fan when the AC circuit is turned on. Adjustable and inexpensive. Note. I didn't look at it to see how much it was pulsing. It works with DC fan, so I don't worry.

Good voltage regulation from light to full load. The voltage can be adjusted within a small range. Hardly any switching noise. Good connections. There is no leakage current from the power line to the case. Pretty good value for what you would expect from Mean Well consumables.

Good workmanship - I looked inside while isolating the AC input terminals. 0.1V, if that. But like many of its brethren, the AC input is on an open divider strip next to the outputs. I've had a few of these that offer a little protection thanks to the plastic lid, but they don't. Definitely five stars because I don't put much value on this case in terms of security. I made the mistake of buying bricked power supplies for my studio lighting project (led strips) they are rubbish as they don't hold 80% of the rated maximum load . (12V to 10.5V!). For just a few bucks and a little more DIY, Mean Well is way better. With this I draw 7 amps at 12v with a reliable meter reading of 12v. I bought this as a 12v driver for several echo points that are installed in the wall throughout my house. At 1.25 amps per point, that's only 6.25 amps (max) for 5 points, that's a lot of overhead on this nice device.
