Remote causes the password prompt to appear on the TV.

This remote worked well for about 3 months, then a password prompt appeared on my screen. LG couldn't figure out the issue until I found out that the password prompt didn't appear unless I touched the remote. If I moved the remote at all (without touching the buttons) I just shook it and the password prompt pops up. I removed the batteries from the remote control and can operate the TV using the controls on the TV, but the remote control is now completely unusable!
