When there was a choice between R5 2600 / LGA2022v3 and some kind of Xeon / R5 3600 thread, I sorted it out for a long time, but in the end I settled on 3600 because: 1. Performance per core (yes, toys). 2. The platform will still live at least one generation (Zen 3). 3. The price is not prohibitive 4. New iron with a guarantee and all that. I want to confirm and warn you, if you want to get everything out of the R5 3600, you will need to conjure overclocking both the processor and the memory. Two consequences follow from this: you won’t be able to save a lot on mother and memory. Therefore, I took entry level x570 MSI X570-A Pro and HyperX KHX3333C16D4 2x8Gb. Why they, yes, everything is simple, then where I initially aimed (Asus B450 TUF pro and Crucial BallistiX Sport) were bought up or inadequately raised the price. Did it get much worse? I think not, especially since the X570 itself is not bad to have. A mother with an average nutrition in the segment, of course, holds 3600 easily. Thanks to the excellent MSI BIOS, by rather slow selection of settings (it took about three days in general), the processor takes 4.4Ghz at 1.2V, while not hammering at 85C (Dark Rock 4). The memory runs at 3800Mhz with 16-19 timings at 1.1V SoC and 1.39V voltage. When overclocking memory, it should be remembered that a divider is turned on above 3600, which reduces performance, so the Infinity Fabric frequency must be leveled with DDR and set to V SoC in 99% of cases. CPU tests Prime95 does not pass, but everything else works ironclad from OCCT / TM5 to 3DMark, there is nothing to say about games. Is it worth sacrificing "free" performance or increasing the voltage, which will inevitably increase the temperature for the sake of formal synthetics? I confidently answered no, because in real work the system works very stably, not a single gap, as they say. In general, the percentage met all expectations, drags all the games, for 1080ti it is enough. I think this config will live quietly for 2-3 years, after which it will most likely be replaced by the older Ryzen 4th generation, just when the price for it drops. Amude is happy.
