I give 4 stars because I like them. They're not perfect, but I like them. I bought an all black rectangular kit for my 98 TJ. I took the advice of another poster that said the back of the mirror will be siliconised and mine won't whistle, although I did that before putting them on so I don't know if they will anyway. I just didn't want to do this job twice. Putting mirrors, they seem very cheap. Housings are made of plastic, washers are made of plastic. but once they're on, they're pretty solid. They move pretty easily with my hands so I figured they would move all over the highway but surprisingly they stayed in place. it doesn't seem tight enough because you can move the bar by hand very easily, but I've driven these back and forth to work and surprisingly they haven't driven on the freeway. I suppose if they did I'd replace that knowledge with a real screw and screw it in with a socket if needed, but so far it's been reliable. Things I would suggest if possible. They attach to the top of the windshield bracket on the J/K and below on the TJ. This isn't usually a problem if you remove the doors, but if you don't, the passenger side mirror is useless. I think if it were moved to the top of the windshield mount it would be more visible with the doors open. I actually removed the outside rear view mirrors, they are bulky and don't look good in my opinion. These mirrors look more like the old CJ mirrors and IMO look a lot better so I removed the stock mirrors and put these on. So far I haven't had any problems. They vibrate a little, but they can be used. I mean, I'm still looking at her through the plastic window. The doors bang against the mirrors when fully open, another issue that can be addressed by raising the brackets on the windshield upper mount. I would just check but these mounts will not fit without modifications. Not sure why the manufacturer doesn't put them on the top screws, but they work. By the way, if you have restrictive door straps, it will fix the problem of the door hitting the mirror. After all, they are made of plastic and look friendly. cheap when you put them on, but if you take your time putting them on, they seem to work better than you think. I definitely like their look more than standard mirrors.
