I am a repair company. This is the best bit I've found for drilling studs or joists on rough plumbing jobs. The drill basically goes through the wood and chews on everything in its path. I use my DeWalt DW120K angle drill, but you can use a drill for holes etc. Use a heavy duty 1/2" drill bit, preferably one that you can hold two hands because if it gets caught on a nail etc while you're drilling, the torque from the bit can twist your hand really painfully. One of the great things is that it's possible to send bits in for resharpening, although they'll last a long time before you have to.Get a 2 9/16 bit to work with a 2" pipe and a 12" hex extension since the shank is long, only about 3 inches.
