my place on the couch is far from the nearest socket. The 10ft cord is perfect because now I can still use my phone and lounge on the couch while it charges! The bonus was that this cable came with the other four. I already use two others and was able to share them with my mother. The thickness of the cable is very strong (which is great for those of us with not very sensitive kids), but it's narrow enough at the charging end that I don't have to remove my phone case. Definitely a great buy for the money!
