Koh-I-Noor vs. Koi Watercolor Set.

This is a great package at an affordable price. It's round, all discs stack and interlock so it's portable and contains all the colors you need to create all kinds of watercolors, especially landscapes. The lid can be used as a palette as it comes in parts and the round indentation in the center can be filled with some water and used to remove the paint. I also have a set of koi watercolors. It comes with a water retention brush which is nice but a bit pricey. I like the size of the color disks on this disk, they are slightly larger than the koi (over a dime, a little under a quarter) so it's easier to get the color off them without wetting the adjacent color. There's also more space between them, so they don't blend together as easily. In terms of pigmentation I think they are just as pigmented as Koi, maybe a little less for some shades. I miss purple on Koi as I often paint flowers or add purple accents to the sky and I wish it was in the palette so I don't have to keep mixing it. The picture is a bit misleading as one of the yellow ones is in the green disc and one is in the other. The photo uploaded by the reviewers is more accurate. For the most part, the discs are arranged by color, so most are green in one, blue in another, red and orange in one, and the rest in the fourth disc. This helps with painting as it's easier to use one disc for all green or blue and so on. So far I like the Koi and Kohinoor sets for the colors and portability. I find the Koi a bit more wearable and like the well-designed mixing palette, but the round Kohinoor also has some advantages in color distribution. If it was a purple color I would give it a slight edge over the koi, but now for me the koi has the edge.
