The cat doesn't scratch with it, but in general it prevents him from scratching the sofa.
later so I took a chance on getting this because it's hard to control where your cat wants to scratch. I have to say my kitty stopped scratching that side of the couch as soon as I put the covers over it. haha! It doesn't really scratch the thing though. I was a bit disappointed but I think it does the job. I think it looks high quality because of the colors. The elegant look of our dark brown leather sofa.
