You also have the option not to install the WD Discovery software if you don't need it. The product comes with a 3-year warranty. I am very impressed with this drive. As a photographer I need high capacity backup drives and regularly fill up large drives like this 4TB drive. It has a transfer rate of 5 Gbps when using a USB 3 connection. The drive runs at 5400 RPM, which is slow for a drive you'll use for persistent storage and retrieval, but acceptable for backup storage. This drive is the smallest form factor I've ever seen in a 4TB external drive. making it easy to carry and store. Being an active panel with moving panels, it must be handled with care and protected from bumps and falls, especially during operation.
