Very high quality product, it's not the first time I bought it.

Worthy purchase in combination price-quality. USB power is enough. So you can connect to almost any usb port on your computer or TV. But to evaluate the speed characteristics, of course, you need usb 3.0. Has pros: Reliably, qualitatively and compactly packed in a modern way. The disk is large, but quickly identified in a regular office computer with a usb 2.0 port. Ready for work. The drive operates with minimal vibration and noise. The connecting cable with the adapter sits confidently in its

    Apple MacBook Safe Backup

I ordered this item because I had to return my MACBOOK PRO to Apple due to battery issues. I was concerned about security and personal information on my MAC, so I decided to buy this PassPort Ultra for Mac. I'm so glad I did. Mac Time Machine has allowed me to back up my MAC, wipe the hard drive before sending it to Apple for repair. After getting my MACBOOK back, I plugged in the PassPort Ultra and within 30 minutes my MAC was back in place. Even bookmarks! So I'm very happy with my purchase…

Excellent and fast for the price and seems to be built really well!

This is my second generation Western Digital My Passport hard drive and I love the metal case. It looks like a durable and well built product that will last for years. I got about 131.3 MB/s reading and 125.6 MB/s writing. Important: Actual storage on this device is approximately 3.8 TB, not 4 TB. I really love this product because the price is affordable and it really has a lot of space. I recommend this product if you are looking for an external HD without a doubt. Since USB-C is already…

    WARNING: USB adapter slows drive

I bought this drive because I needed a new one because my old one was flooded. 4TB was perfect! I also have an old Macbook Air with USB-A ports and a newer Macbook Air with USB-C. When I saw that this drive came with an adapter I was sold out! I didn't realize how SLOW it was until I plugged in the drive with the adapter attached. I ran some tests with both computers and the drive with and without the adapter and found that using the adapter slows the drive down by 3x. For example, what would…

Do not download WD software = All good

As others have noted, works fine out of the box but then seems to crash with Mac OS. I disabled the WD sleep feature as another user suggested and it seemed to help for the next backup. Then after another backup attempt the same error message appeared. I checked the WD website and couldn't find any help. I found a support article from Apple stating that any kind of disk management, antivirus or other similar third party apps/utilities can interfere with Time Machine's automatic backup features.

Faster than other WD drives, but the cable sucks.

It looks well built, the top is thin aluminum and the rest of the body is plastic. So if you want to know the entire body is NOT metal. The cable that came with it doesn't fit well (or at all) in my MacBook Pro, it pops out if you don't look closely. I've tried different USB-C cables but found that you need to use a Gen 2 cable otherwise the speed is very slow so now I've had to order a new cable for a brand new drive. 🙄 This replaces the 1 year old WD My Passport 2TB drive and the new one is…

    Warning for New Customers

I received the WD Passport Ultra (4TB) today and was having a problem with not mounting the device in windows so I went to the command line and tried using the assign command to no avail. So I went to Disk Management and found that the drive wasn't formatted to NTFS as the description said, so I formatted the drive and accidentally formatted my old dying hard drive that I had to move my files off of. I recovered all my files with Filezilla and Recuva and spent a lot of time on it. I've expected

Metal? I do not think so.

This WD My Passport Ultra 4TB drive is listed as Metal. I do not think so. When I tap it with my fingernail, it pops like plastic. Metal, especially thin metal like this, would produce a higher pitched sound. I almost want to hack it to finally prove it's not metal. It has metallic paint but that seems to be it. Unfortunately, it seems less durable than the previous generation WD My Passport 4TB that I also own. I have one with an interesting shape of blinds around the perimeter. That seems…
