This WD My Passport Ultra 4TB drive is listed as Metal. I do not think so. When I tap it with my fingernail, it pops like plastic. Metal, especially thin metal like this, would produce a higher pitched sound. I almost want to hack it to finally prove it's not metal. It has metallic paint but that seems to be it. Unfortunately, it seems less durable than the previous generation WD My Passport 4TB that I also own. I have one with an interesting shape of blinds around the perimeter. That seems better than this one to me. They're both easy on the small size and I don't plan on kicking them, but I do plan on moving them around a lot, so it's a bit disappointing that I got sucked into this new "Metal" Ultra for $20 more could have been possible. be inferior in durability to the previous generation. Five stars for performance, three stars for lying about the metal's durability. And a black eye for the honesty of the WD brand.
