Review on FIRST ALERT BRK CO5120BN: Reliable Hardwired Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detector with Battery Backup in White by Delos Rodeo

As you can see from previous reviews there is a very sticky foam tape protruding radially from the base of the sensor (see attached photo). This kept me from detaching the sensor from the base until I had distorted the base enough to free one side. I removed the excess tape with a razor blade, but then found that the sensor fit in the base had such a tight depth tolerance that I had to purchase pan head screws. Even then, the sensor wants to fall off the base. This appears to be because the "breasts" on the sensor (shown in the photo) simply do not protrude far enough in the radial direction to ensure good engagement. It looks like the function of the duct tape is to try to compensate for this VERY BAD design. However, the band just makes the fit less secure. I'm doing a wall mount to see if the sensor falls out of the base. Would definitely return if it was a ceiling mount - again as mentioned in other reviews. Conclusion: The manufacturer must correct its design!
