Review on Genuine Subaru H631SFJ101 Tweeter Kit by Landon Bandepalli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for upgrading non-JBL 5th Generation 4Runner system speakers.

I was trying to upgrade the 3.5" JBL speaker, which you probably saw on YouTube if you're looking at the 5th Gen 4Runner Dashboard Upgrades. I felt like JBL's famous titanium tweeters bouncing off my windscreen might not be the sound I was looking for, and it isn't. I took them out and sent them back. Nothing against JBL, these speakers just didn't work in this scenario. They were too loud and out of balance with the rest of the system and it wasn't my goal to replace everything. It just struggles with the high frequencies, like something is missing and you want to reproduce it with an equalizer, but it can't. These Kicker Subaru speakers solved that problem and fit perfectly in the Toyota mount. They even use the same connector. Sounds like the same system with them but better. Sonic changes aren't noticeable, but what wasn't previously at high frequencies is now there. This is exactly what I was looking for. These speakers are $100 BUT minus the cost of adapters, wire harnesses, etc. that you would need with pre-built car speakers. Given that and how perfect they sound at home with a factory system, I think they're worth it. One installation tip: loosen the screws that attach the speakers to the brackets BEFORE removing the brackets from the dashboard. They're pretty tight in there and there's not a good way to hold them up and get the bolt out of the dash.
