I wish I had known about these incredible stockings years ago so I could make them for my girls. My neighbor made them for her grandkids but I didn't see them until the very last time she made them. I just couldn't believe how beautiful they are and I knew right away that I would make them for my grandkids! Luckily I only have 3 because they are a lot of work! But I can honestly say I loved every bit of it; They are definitely a labor of love. I just finished this one, Friends of the Animal Farm, and I can't believe I did something so amazing! Not my credit, all credit to the designers! The only part I struggled with was sewing the name. I just couldn't make it look good. A word of warning, don't try to remove the stitches if you can. If you do this be very careful because the felt was a little thinner where I cut and removed the threads so I could start over, the felt was a little thinner where her name was. And the rest turned out very well! This is my first and I have 3 more, I'm just starting the second one. If you're not sure you can, I promise you can! Just take one step at a time and don't try to rush. Just spread out all your stuff and stay organized with threads, beads and sequins. I bought a plastic tray from Dollar Tree and placed it on my lap so I could sit comfortably in my chair while I worked on the stocking. I also bought (again from Dollar Tree) a few packs of small plastic containers with lids to put sequins and beads of each color in. It worked great! (They are sold in packs of 4.) If you are looking to make a treasured family heirloom/memorabilia for someone special, these stockings are for you. I also bought "Made with Love" tags and sewed them onto the back of the stockings. They're a bit small but I think they're perfect for this project. Don't be fooled by negative reviews about labels that are too small; They add a nice touch and personalize them even more.
