So I bought this as an upgrade from my 1100w unit. Wanted to do more than just keep warm and actually cook/cook with it. So the first failure. On first use it worked for 5 minutes, started making a clicking noise and after about a minute there was a loud popping and clicking and it started vibrating like crazy. It's easy to see that the fan has failed quite dramatically, with ribs scattered throughout the interior. I was not afraid. Fan disassembled, cleaned and removed. It turned out that it doesn't work without a fan. So I ordered a new fan (2 for $9, now I have another spare) and when it arrived I just swapped it out. Since then it's been amazing. Heats up quickly, boils water like my home electric range, and generally works well. Can I save $9 and return/exchange it? Of course. Can I be sure the new fan assembly will be different? nope The fins on the replaced fans are noticeably thicker and better designed than the original ones that failed. I think it's a 50/50 rating but I'm a mechanic so I gave it high marks for what it was intended for.
