I've had aquariums for decades and in the past all we had were hanging heaters with touch controls. It's no different. If you are unfamiliar with these types of heaters, it will be difficult to get the temperature you want, but once you get it, it works great. I have this heater in my 10 gallon fry tank and this 75 watt heater works great. This is about 15 degrees above room temperature and is stable. Ultimately, I still like these types of heaters more than submersibles, but they're just more comfortable than these. So yes, if you have used this type of heater before you can't go wrong at its price point.
