They wear out fairly quickly, but if you use elbow grease judiciously and let the tool work, it will quickly deal with mill scale, rust, etc. I have not done this. Don't try them on stained stuff yet, but you can imagine them sticking together a little unless you use a lower speed, which = lower heat. I used 6 of these to remove mill scale from items in photos, so about $9 a rack. I also tried a similar Scotchbrite disc for comparison, and it did about 50% of the work either of them did before they died, which cost $14 each. Ouch. good value for money when time is money and doesn't ruin the metal surface, just prime it perfectly for priming and painting (after a good degreasing of course).
