Review on πŸš€ Enhance Your Toyota Camry Performance with PEDAL COMMANDER - PC55 Throttle Response Controller (2012 and Newer Models) by Carlos Massey

Not worth the investment compared to Camry's stock settings

I bought one of these for my 2019 Toyota Camry XSE as I wanted to eliminate pedal lag, especially at traffic lights. Instructions and packaging where good. Installation was pretty easy. However, when they say "this will not void your vehicle's warranty," they really should make it clear *Only if you don't get caught using it*. There is a sketchy guide on how to 'hide' the device when you take your car to the shop for service. For me, that's a big red flag. The device is not lag-free. It really only affects throttle sensitivity in terms of setting how hard you have to hit the gas pedal to get to speed X in economy mode. mode, but the more you increase the sensitivity, like Sport mode or Sport+, honestly it feels like every time you press the gas pedal you press it. I prefer the built-in sport mode. With this device, fuel consumption has been drastically reduced by about 3-5 miles per hour. The Economy setting of this device does not correspond to the standard Economy setting of the vehicle. I average about 42mpg on the car's Economy setting, and on the Pedal Commander's Economy setting I only get about 37mpg when driving the same distance and speed as I do every other day. When changing settings, I recommend changing while the car is stationary. Sometimes it can be quite choppy. In general, I don't see any advantage for my car in this. Perhaps this is a worthwhile investment for other cars, but I see no reason to pay such a large amount for a minimal and sometimes diminishing performance gain from the Toyota Camry XSE.

  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Good but not great
