Review on πŸ”‡ Vance and Hines 21301 Quiet Baffle for Shortshots Staggered and Sideshots Exhaust Systems by Bryce Marshall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A very useful update for your Scoot

Ordered these and installed them on my 2001 V&H Short Shots XL883. First let me say I installed them while the tubes were on the bike, using a side stand (not a bike jack or lift). They are VERY EASY to install, but I suggest keeping the exhaust system warm to make removing the old deflectors easier. To install them, you must first remove the heat shields. Each tube has a set screw that secures the baffle. Remove it and slide the old one out, put the new one in (the white fluffy covering on the new baffles is the biggest problem in the whole process as you have to rotate the baffle to get it in the tube. This one too The process is EASY and you shouldn't be afraid if you have at least a little understanding of the mechanics. The entire replacement took me 25 minutes. These new baffles are noticeably different in a number of ways.First is less harsh and less harsh at even speed on the road and track there is a noticeable difference that makes the ride much more enjoyable for everyone involved. You will still be noticeably louder than the stock system with a very pleasant growl (not a purr).Secondly, performance.i have noticed a significant increase in performance which I can feel in my pants this is probably due to the increase in back pressure needed u m to generate energy from combustion. Fuel.Third.Fuel consumption. When I first installed Short Shots I noticed a reduction in fuel economy. That gets me back to 50mpg, although I like to drive fairly aggressively. So folks, it's not a problem. If you're even thinking of getting them, do it. Remember you need 2 and for some reason they are sold in each one (so get two).
