I bought this for disc golf. The first instrument I received had a black thread taped to the inside of the eyepiece protector. It worked, but the thread was very annoying. It appears to be held in place by static electricity and cannot be removed. I exchanged several emails with the seller who didn't seem to understand the issue and eventually offered to refund me $5. As much as I hated it, I pulled out the pin and asked for an exchange. The replacement unit works great, so well it was embarrassing. It was more accurate and much more sensitive to target acquisition than the original block. For the price, this is the best rangefinder on Revain - with the caveat that you're getting a fully functional, working device. Buy it and immediately test it with different types and sizes of targets at calibrated distances. I also recommend scanning the almost unreadable manual first and viewing it as a PDF so you can enlarge the fine print and illustrations.
