Review on ๐Ÿšฐ FS4C FloodStop Icemaker Filter by John Jones

Agree โ€œpoor designโ€

I have a washing machine version of this unit that is fine, but there are less expensive (and better designed) options out there. I couldn't find an alternative to FloodStop for ice machines and reverse osmosis systems, so I bought this FloodStop for my reverse osmosis system. I've read all the complaints about the ports but decided that buying adapters if needed wouldn't be a big deal. I was wrong. Like everyone else here, the technical choice of connectors is a classic example of "bad engineering". Neither my reverse osmosis system nor my ice maker use "FS 1/4-C" or "FS 1/4-C" fittings. (FS stands for Face Seal and uses a rubber gasket and is NOT the industry standard FS.) Both use the compression fittings you see en masse at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace & Truevalue. And yes, I'm an engineer. What a good engineer would do is make manifolds with NPT fittings in that size range, which is a very common standard (basic standard for pipe threads), and then any customer could just go to their local hardware store and buy adapters for a few bucks everyone, whatever they want to connect. (Ironically, they make this device in NPT sizes up to 1/2", but not 3/8" and 1/4".) It's frustrating, over $100 for a poorly designed one Paying for product where connectivity becomes a big issue due to incompetent tech.
