They are very light and strong. The paddles are really strong when assembled and there is no feeling that they could accidentally fall apart during use. We use them when going down the river with only the first part of the shaft installed so they are shorter and there is an oar for each person). I drilled holes in them to add a long paracord strap to each, which we attached to our hoses to keep the paddle from losing in a fall. They are perfect for our purposes and I will definitely buy more if I ever need them.
