Despite all the negative reviews I've seen about this device, I somehow convinced myself to try it. I was very excited to use this for my Xbox One X with no PC required. However, the actual recording function does not work. I'm also getting NO ads telling me the device is on as it should be. Which is weird and very annoying. Direct to TV is fine (although it does NOT output the advertised HDR on my HDR TV). But whatever. I've tried EVERYTHING to get it working, read every article on the web, watched every video and even left it on for hours to see if I could miraculously get a status LED. But nothing. I even contacted customer service for help troubleshooting but got no response DAYS later. Funnily enough, you should be able to just plug and play. I am posting this as a warning to other potential buyers. I paid over $400 for this new device and it doesn't work. I will be returning mine immediately and have no hesitation in purchasing another Elgato product.
