We wanted to spend $1,500 on a new refrigerator. The fridge side was not cold and ice was forming on the evaporator coils in the freezer. Our defrost heater was black which meant it was no longer working. This kit comes with a defrost heater, temperature sensor and thermostat. Husband changed all 3 parts. We knew the defrost heater was to blame. See there are amazing step by step videos on how to fix this if you need help.
