Try a different pair of roller skates.
My toddler put his feet back on the skateboard and hit the brake which now locks the rear wheel. The clasp is also held in place by a very small piece of flexible metal. My kid crushed this little piece of metal a few times when trying to put the skates on. I wouldn't buy them again. Unfortunately I bought two pairs, one for each child.
