Not sure what I expected for the price - for my first sling. I heard they came rolled up and was glad to find out when I received the package. However, the roller was firm enough to crumple the stain on the smooth side of the leather. After worrying about the sanding and "boning" and essentially restoring a defective new belt, I put the forum discussion aside and reminded myself that it was just leather. Just a little hot water and a good stretch cleared it up quickly. The suede side is very rough, with a lot of fleece making smooth overlapping impossible. I had to grind the stakes. As you can see from the photos the metal fittings are a die cast chrome material and are not polished at all on the casting surfaces. It looks cheap but it took me 30 pounds to stretch the pleats. I think it does its job, but it takes some work to get it right.
