I bought these with a mini car compressor, VIAIR 70P portable air compressor. - 00073. I wanted them so I could just hook them up directly to the battery, pump air into the tires and know I have enough wire length to do all 4. I don't think it should be a plug for a VIAIR device, but it really is an excellent little air compressor and the perfect accessory for it - almost a must have in my opinion. If you don't have those gator clips you lose a few feet of power cord length, you also have to move the compressor and cord a lot, and if your cigarette lighter socket is blown or broken, as I always seem to be - then you can't with VIAIR inflate tyres. These clips make it easy to get extra 12V power from your car battery. The only thing wrong with them is that the clamp springs are too weak if you have a side terminal battery, but they work well enough if you are careful not to pull on the clamps and short them out.
