Review on ACDelco Professional TF289 Auto Transmission by Daniel Mandal

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Transmission oil change can be very messy

I used RTV and gasket and now 3000 miles and no leaks. I replaced the filter but I don't have a torque wrench so I couldn't tighten the transmission bolts and I couldn't remove the old transmission filter gasket so I just put the old filter in. I have found that I can get a large hand pump. and put a hose in the transmission dipstick and suck out a liter while it's running and then add a liter to try and refresh my fluid as I was just draining the transmission. Didn't do any flushing action anywhere, 148k and no slips I guess I won't top up a liter every month until I have to change it again but next time I'll pay the mechanic because I made a huge mess. I saved a gallon and a half of liquid but definitely spilled a half gallon or something. I had 5 pans downstairs but the transport pan fell and spilled all the pans halfway before I could catch them and I had liquid up to my shoulders so it was bad. I used dry oil but it still gets buried in a garbage company and not recycled. What you learn ha ha. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself if you're on a tight budget.
