I'm an experienced quilter who does a lot of quilting from leftover fabric, which often involves cutting pieces to template size. This carpet is absolutely stable. flat surface on the bottom and prevents the mat from slipping. The mat rotates smoothly in both directions and the self-healing mat remains smooth without the rotating ridges that can occur. I like the size 14"x14", which also comes in handy when I'm building a block up to 12"x12". With the right tools, a task is always more fun. This is the right tool to make those stencil cutouts very smooth and make the alignment process easier.
