Ideal size for small sewing spaces. When you first unpack it, it smells very strongly of chemicals. It doesn't spin as smoothly as we'd like, but it gets the job done. This cutting mat is amazing. I've been using it daily for two weeks. In just a few hours I cut almost 600 pieces of specially shaped fabric for my quilt. I've never used a rotary cutting mat and to be honest my expectations weren't high. Boy was I so pleasantly surprised! The rug is large, the measurements are very clearly marked and very accurate! The rotation of the mat is very smooth and does not sag at the outer edges. The lower part is covered with a thin piece of foam.
