Review on Continental ContiSportContact 5 SUV 255/50 R19 103W Summer by Adam Koakowski ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The quality was generally satisfied, there were minor shortcomings.

Auto-Mercedes GL500. Size 275/50 R20. Cold pressure 2.3 Previously operated Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and Nokian Hakka Black 2, so comparison with them. Drove 17t. Km on tires already Installed tires on 04/10/22 The first thing I immediately liked Conti-absolute peace of mind on any track. There is no yaw like the competition. The car only sways in deep ruts, but you calmly hold the steering wheel with one hand. I am also delighted with the excellent handling and braking properties of the tires. Even at high speeds, the car confidently keeps on the road. The braking properties of tires seem to be limitless. Your brakes are more likely to float than the ABS will work. The tire is certainly not Michelin in appearance with its elegant Bibendum and beautiful velvet on the sidewall (this is if someone is chasing beauty), but this is not important for us professionals Now about the cons and quite significant even for me. The tire is hard. I would put it on the same level of rigidity with Nokian. Maybe even the Conti is a bit oaky. But that's what Conti is the leader in anti-rating - noise. It's just a guard. If the Michelin buzzed after 25k km (in mid-August), then Conti literally “shouted”, cutting off 2mm of tread on a run of 10k. Km (in early June) Shouted so much that I went broke to replace two wheel bearings, thinking that the problem in them, but the culprit is Conti. Even a well-noisy Merc can not cope with this rumble. In general, Nokian wins in terms of noise, then Mishka, then Conti. In terms of softness and comfort, the leader is Mishka, then Nokian, then Conti. This comparison is from the entire life of tires with mileage of 30-35t. Km per season, and not for the first 10t. Km of run. I note that even though the Conti is oak, the rubber absorbs garbage well from the roads (already caught 2 punctures) and there is very little rubber crumbling like Nokian. Michelin doesn't have that. When buying tires, I did not get any promotion. The price of tires is average among competitors. In general, the tire is good, but the wild rumble repels from buying it again. At the end of the season, I will supplement the review with a comment with the final verdict.

Pros
  • Excellent handling and braking properties on both wet and dry pavement. Complete lack of sensitivity to road rutting (even deep)
Cons
  • Rigid. Become very, very noisy after the first 2mm wear. Extended warranty for individuals only for 1 year
