Review on πŸš— K&N Premium Oil Filter: Engine Protection for 2015-2018 NISSAN Titan XD (HP-3005 Compatible) by Demetrio Lowe

Revainrating 3 out of 5

OEM is better and cheaper.

Almost twice the price of the OEM filter but inferior to the Nissan/Cummins/Fleetguard OEM filter due to the physical properties of the KN oil filter alone. The reasons are below: MAIN CAUSE - Oil inlets on the base plate. As you can see in the first picture the KN filter only has 6 oil inlets compared to the OEM which has 8. Also note that the ports on the KN are SMALLER than the OEM and (don't know if this is a bug) MFG from KN side). , but one of the ports is actually LARGER than the others (see port at bottom left of KN filter image)). The gaskets are similar in size and material, but the KN appears to be more recessed into the filter baseplate. See 2nd fig. capacity. A very small detail that most likely has absolutely NO effect on performance, but as you can see in the 3rd picture the overall length of the KN filter is SLIGHTLY shorter than the OEM due to the built in disassembly nut. The OEM has an anti-drain valve (although it is listed on the KN packaging), probably due to the orientation of the oil filter on the engine. Unfortunately I don't have any data on the filter media but due to these physical issues I would expect it to NOT exceed OEM specs. I like the built in mother. But it is, but it doesn't cost almost twice as much as OEM. Returned.
