We originally attached the trainer to a regular collar but I saw this and thought it would be easier. Not as much. First, the material is very slippery. Second, if your dog is smaller and in between hole sizes, it will be more difficult to fit. Third, when our dog scratched, he could move the collar by catching his claws on the holes (quite easily, which was shocking). As I said before, my husband said he hated them from the start: the texture, the way the sneakers slipped over them, everything. After a few weeks I gave up and went back to my normal collar. In theory this is a great idea, but it didn't work for us.
