Before trying this option, I watched a few YouTube videos to see what would involve replacing the key fob shell. It looked so easy, but I found my factory key almost impossible to spot. I literally had to tear it to pieces to take the circuit board off. I was able to remove the circuit board without damaging it, but it was extremely difficult. Also, I found it impossible to remove the small pin to use the original key. This was easily resolved as I was able to get a new key from my Chevy dealer for $15. I advise you to see if your old key is falling apart as shown in the YouTube video. If so, you shouldn't have any problems using this shell. Word to the wise, I buy protective covers for my Chevy keychains so I don't have to go through this again.
