We installed these locks on both of our toilets when my son started walking and we noticed he was taking an interest in opening the toilet lid and splashing water inside. They worked about as well as I could have expected. About a week after installation, he practically lost interest in spraying toilets. It's true if you apply enough force in the right place and your little one is actually dangling from them, they can break. My suggestion: just keep them from picking the locks when you're in the bathroom with them. In addition, turning off the light in the bathroom and closing the front door is also of great importance. Two locks have been on our toilets for about a year without any problems. My son rarely messes with them, which is what I was hoping for, which is why I'm giving a five star rating here.
