I had an old model that I liked but accidentally dropped the carafe and it broke. I couldn't find a replacement so I had to order a new one or pay twice as much for the original. Anyway, I bought this one which basically had all the same basic features. i have some problems I don't care about opening the lid from the side rather than front to back, but that's just a preference. However, pouring with your left hand is inconvenient as it opens from right to left. Second, no matter what order I take out the used coffee grounds (I use my own filters) and pour the water into the pot, water always drips from the dispenser onto the burner. I never had this problem with the old one, but it's annoying that I have to wash it every time before I use it again. It may seem small, but I try not to run a new pot of sizzling water while brewing. Finally, although I didn't think I'd mind, the piece throwing water onto the coffee grounds has to move back and forth when the grounds are removed. My old one was built into the lid. I wouldn't care but I'm still using the rest of my old filters which are way too tall even though the number of cups/pot sizes is the same as the old one. This may all seem small, but I think it's worth noting for those considering a purchase.
