Our 7 month old pet would pull and pull on walks or be stubborn and not want to walk unless bribed with treats. We had very difficult times with other people and dogs when he wanted to run to them or chase them. Birds and squirrels became a constant struggle. Our trainer suggested a spiked collar this time, but since our pup is smaller than most rodents and weighs 30-40 pounds, she recommends a 2.3mm spike gauge. After searching there weren't many options for a collar of this size. Others were much more expensive than I was willing to pay even though they were needed for the training. I first bought one that fit perfectly around his neck. The puppy pulled several times, and for the first time let out a hard-to-digest scream. Since then, however, he has not drawn again. Walking is much easier now! We don't have to worry about other dogs or people. If I tug on the leash a little, he'll shy away from chasing the squirrels. Now this collar has been designed for dogs that are much smaller than our dog food mix which eventually outgrew the collar. I looked for extensions but found this collar to be so valuable that it would be cheaper to buy a second one than to buy additional links. I added two extra prongs and it fits great! My pup won't hide from the leash, he has a lot of slack and he feels the leash tighten before he tumbles in, so he corrects his behavior. I highly recommend this for learning.
