I've used it several times. Don't plan on following the cable through the walls. And when the cable is mated with other cables, all cables pick up noise. But it helped me find the spare wire I needed for the project. I had to do some panel work because it wasn't clear which wire (out of a bunch of 5) was the correct wire. If you work a little here and there it should be fine. However, don't expect more than $100 in performance from this device.
