I have used a trimming knife for many years but this is my first scallop knife. It takes some time to get used to. I mainly use it for fabric. Makes a very nice edge. But as I mentioned in some other reviews, don't use your good quilting rulers. This will hit the edge. And like I said, maybe it just takes a little practice to know exactly how to keep the blade next to the ruler. This isn't a complaint about the blade as it works very well. This is for information only - especially for those who are not a power cutter professional.
