So all good in the end. It does what I expected. It was a bit odd to install in the sense that it wasn't particularly easy to fit the top into the factory clamps without going over the holes, but through trial and error I got it working properly. I think all of these types of kits have this problem, but there is a small gap between the top of the kit and the bottom of the AC controls, but it's not particularly noticeable. Having installed about a hundred of these things in many cars over the years (mind you, a long time ago and never on this model) I was pretty happy with what I needed.
