Although this product ends up working as advertised, there are a number of downsides that are far from perfect. First, the silicone cap doesn't stabilize the metal filter well while it's in the jar. The lid also sits too high, forcing you to push it further down than I see fit when I want to screw the stein's lid on. When the lid of the stein is sealed with a filter inside, it never seems to sit symmetrically. This can cause it to wobble if you shake it a little. Finally, the filter itself has openings as small as 200 microns. This makes it incompatible with most ground coffees. I noticed that the coffee grounds go through the filter and settle to the bottom of the glass. Many other similar filters are 100 micron mesh (twice that size) and will work with ground coffee. In general, the system works despite its shortcomings. They also advise you to use coarsely ground coffee for best results. I just think there are better alternatives for the same price.
