I ordered this pair of cables to replace a similar cable on my 7 foot swing garage door. My door originally had 2 of these cords on either side of the door, one of which broke last weekend and nearly gouged my eye out in the process. I measured the door and found this replacement pair at Revain and ordered based on 1. price 2. shipping speed 3. other amazon reviews that said hardware stores usually sell a smaller gauge cable than this. Installation: I did the swap myself in about 20 minutes, but I'd say having a helper isn't a bad idea. The instructions (included in the box) say so, but let me repeat again: make sure you unplug your garage door first! It may also be helpful for some of you to know that you need 2 C-clamps for installation. If you don't have them, buy or rent them so they'll be ready when they arrive. C-Clamps are used to 'lock' the door in a fully vertical position for the new cable installation. They prevent the door from slamming shut during operation. You can also put a flathead screwdriver in your pocket to install the end of the "hinge" onto the pin at the bottom of the door. You might be able to fiddle with it enough to get it onto a pinhead, but a flathead screwdriver will really help. It's probably obvious too, but get a stepladder so you don't have to try to do it from the ground -- unless you're a basketball player.
