I have a 745 lb empty trailer and I'm towing it with a Ford Expedition. Also, I put all my tools and supplies in the front locker. Of course we can talk about 200 pounds overweight. So I calculated almost 1000 pounds of tongue weight. I installed this and measured everything according to the instructions, which you really should be following! While the Expedition pulls fairly well and can handle that weight fairly well (and probably maxes out at 1,000 pounds), it still only sagged due to its own hitch. Once fully installed, the rear end has very little sag, which helps maintain balance. As you know you should have at least 10-15% of the trailer weight on the drawbar. I would say there is a significant difference in having it or not! Short distances possibly without. But nothing on the track, without this setup, towing would be unthinkable. I just find it funny that all of these things alone probably weigh about 100 pounds and that should reduce the weight on the hitch. Weird but works great!
