A good sturdy backpack will probably last a long time, but it's a bit expensive. I think you're paying for the tactical look and harness. The material is durable and the zips are closed to keep the interior dry when not using a rain gear. I wish there were a few small zippered pockets inside instead of two large ones and I wish the other open top pockets had zippers. This section is where I keep small loose items that are difficult to organize well. It has a couple of additional external zipped pockets suitable for sunglasses, a small camera or similar. The padding and straps are comfortable, the internal volume is enough for 2-3 days.
