Review on πŸ” Enhance Your Multimedia Experience with IOGEAR MiniView Extreme KVMP Switch (GCS1734) by Steven Adams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent KVM, worth the money.

I needed a new KVM because my old 2-port module, which was also starting to fail, was obsolete. My dad uses this model and said he likes it a lot so I decided to give it a try. I love it! I've been using it for almost 5 months now and I'm hesitating between 2-3 PCs. It works flawlessly and reliably every time and has audio switching which my old KVM didn't have. [My father has been using it on 4 computers for several years with no problems.] Some people have complained about the proprietary connection on KVM that doesn't allow them to extend cables. However, nothing prevents them from extending the cables on the PC side, where standard connections are used. In addition, IOGEAR sells longer cables. I find the original cable length more than sufficient for my needs. I have two specifics to address: 1) I'm using a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse with a combo USB transceiver. For some reason the transceiver had to be plugged into the USB port on the back of the KVM and didn't work with front ports. My dad uses an older style of wired keyboard and wireless mouse (both Microsoft). Its function is perfect for the front USB ports. 2) Sometimes when I switch between active PCs, they appear on a lower screen resolution with huge icons. It usually fixes itself if I disconnect from this PC for a few seconds and then come back. It's annoying at best and doesn't deserve a downgrade in my rating.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Somewhat serviceable
