The water in my well is crystal clear now. I used to use a pleated cartridge filter for the whole house along with a Brita drinking water filter. The pleated filter lasted 2-3 months but I still needed a razor to get the metallic taste out of the faucet. When I switched to this activated carbon filter, I no longer had to filter my drinking water. I can't yet say how long this filter will last since I've just started using it, but I can say my tap water is clean with no noticeable pressure drop. I've been told by 2 water treatment companies that I need very expensive filtration and softening systems to get rid of rust stains and metallic taste in my water, but I tried the 'big blue' filter and cartridge first and am completely satisfied.
